New Christmas Update at Etsy!

Hello Everyone, Well it took me all year just to make somethings for my Christmas update at etsy..but i am pleased that i was able to at least make somethings and was happy making them. I paced myself and enjoyed crafting and was able to take my time and enjoy it. I think it is better to do it that way and will be doing that from now on. At least i don't want to stop creating.. it is my favorite thing to do! i was able to dabble in my wool felt this year which is something i have wanted to do for a long time now so was able to get somethings made with wool felt.. i buy mine at http://www.achildsdream.com/ They have beautiful high quality wool felt. Of course, i didn't make everything on my list, but there is always next year! If you get a chance, stop over and browse around! I hope you enjoy seeing what i have made! So much fun! Hello Everyone, Sometimes i get frustrated because i start projects and then they never get finished and end up in a pile and I hate that. Does anyone else do that? Well i finally got something finished in the pile and hope to get more done as I have neglected my etsy shop so hopefully i will go slow and steady so I don't get too fatigued. Well i started out painting this cute little box.. handy for a craft room .. or for little miniatures etc .. and i added the little tiny pose doll but there was something lacking from it. I loved the bright colors and then i saw in my cupboard the package of vintage 1960s daisies i had and thought a perfect finish to the cute little cupboard. I hope you think so too..let me know what you think? i finally got it listed on my etsy shop! Yay!!!

Hello Everyone, I absolutely enjoyed receiving all the wonderful Valentines from the Dolly Dingle Valentine Swap and enjoyed making them as well but unfortunately my computer fried on February 13th..the day i was ready to post my pictures on my blog! I was so upset. I am recovering from another heart infection but thinking I am on the mend now because I am feeling a bit better and hope to be back and visit my friends here in blogland! While I was resting, I was playing with my vintage chenille so for the first time ever.. I have made One of a Kind Springtime Dainty Dollies and friends which will be listed on my etsy shop today on April 19th at 5 pm EST. Hope you can visit! Now I am finally getting used to the new computer.. new photo program etc. which took me sometime but I am glad to be back online! Hello Everyone, A new year is upon us and I get excited in hopes of setting goals for myself and carrying them out.. first i want to wish everyone a wonderful Happy New Year.. may your year be everything you want it to be.. may you be surrounded by loved ones and always be happy! My health was not what i expected for 2010 therefore i wasn't able to blog much but hoping and wishing 2011 will be different and I am really going to try my best to blog more and craft more. I didn't craft at all this year.. my health just didn't let me.. it is frustrating at times but I am really going to try to change it. I think with hope you can accomplish anything! At least I HOPE so! So to start myself off right this new year, I have joined in on a very cute Valentine Swap.. to create Valentines and exchange them.. i think will be so much fun as i love Valentine's Day so much! Sweet Elizabeth of Bluebird's PaperCrafts has hosted this adorable Dolly Dingle Valentines swap and I look forward to getting back to crafting! I also want to get back to needle felting as well this year.. i miss it so much!! So many ideas in my head.. i have been writing them all down so i don't forget them. Hi Everyone, It has been a long time and I am sorry I have been missing in blogland but I am just recovering from a horrible heart infection ( pericarditis) caused by the Lyme/Lupus... it hit me right before the New Year and it has taken me months to get back on my feet again.. I am doing a bit better due to alot of rest, and a new doctor who has been helping me quite a bit. I hope it lasts. I have decided to join a swap... i haven't played with paper in a while ..well i haven't really crafted at all this year yet so it should be fun and get my mind going which I need very badly. Missy at Crafty Carnival is having a very cute card making swap... you make 10 cards and send them to her and you will receive 10 cards back from different artists which will be great.. you can always use some cards in the house. I have missed all of you here and hopefully I will be here more often now and will get back to seeing what is going on in your blogs as well! I am truly looking forward to it! It's a Small World After All!!!

In 1964, my parents being born New Yorkers decided to take us the the World's Fair in New York City. I was quite young at the time but I do remember some things that i seen while being at the World's Fair. The two things that had the biggest impact on me at the Fair was the "It's a Small World" display and ride and also the "Carousel of Progress" at the time being called "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow". We always went down to the city on weekends and would do window shopping which I still love doing and going to a steak house for a nice steak dinner. I remember wearing my little white go go boots that i loved so much. My Family was window shopping and I went by a beautiful store that had wonderful things in the window..but my eyes went immediately to a doll travel case.. they were used for pocketbooks at this time or to put your doll things in.. not a big doll case ..more like a small square train box. There was a case neatly on display with the vintage images I saw at the display - "It's a small world after all"!! Being dutch, I loved the little dutch girl on the front on it and never forgot it. My mom tugged my hands and since we were not a well off family, I knew better than to ask if i could purchase it. I dreamed about that case for sometime after it. Well, about a month ago, i was searching on ebay, just browsing for things, and what to my surprise did I come across but the little train case I saw that day in New York in the beautiful store window! I couldn't believe it.. it looked to be in great condition and it had a buy it now with an offer too.. i made an offer and it was mine! When I received that case in my hands .. i just couldn't believe I actually found this case after all those years! It's definitely a small world after all! At the time, the store was called AMSCO on Fifth Avenue and is now called SAKS OF FIFTH AVENUE. I paid $18 for the case... That made my year!!!!!! Hope you enjoyed! Hugs, Linda

Hello Everyone, First of all, I want to thank each one of you that commented on my blog and have been with me through this hard time in my life... i am still struggling but have had some good days too which i didn't have before! Guess what i do on those days.. yep you got it.. craft!!

Anyway, I am going to e-mail each one of you and thank you. because you mean alot to me for thinking of me and you don't know how much that helps when you are feeling ill. You all are my angels! I never expected to be on the other side of the spectrum but I ended up here somehow and I know I have to except it. The medicine the new doctor has given me is making me vomit so I am going to him in a couple of days to see if he can give me something to help. I am not keeping my food in and I'm hungry! I can't even keep a cup of tea or a chai in.. so it is frustrating. But I am hanging in there! I found out that what this disease did to my heart could kill you in two days according to my new doctor and I lasted eight months with it before they found it so that shows how tough i can be! I love each and everyone of you in blogland ... and I am sorry that I haven't been here much.. I am going to try to change that and blog more... I promise!

I thought you would like to see me at my graduation in 1988.. that was a very happy day for me and I miss working very much! I can't thank you all enough for being there for me.. it has been a battle.. one I am not giving up on... and you being there for me..helps me fight even more!

A Weird Couple of Weeks

Hello Everyone, I know it has been sometime that I have blogged and I am sorry about that.. i have been horribly ill. My husband's surgery went well and he is on his way to recovery and doing much better now but in the midst of it all.. I relasped and got sicker and developed this weird purple vein like rash on my upper left thigh. In the past the Lyme Disease affected my heart so I called the heart doctor and went to see him as I thought maybe the rash was related to my heart. He referred me to another specialist..a rheumotologist who knew what the rash was.. it is called levido and he in turn sent me for blood work and I had a long talk with him on what has gone on with my health since I was in my 30's. I went back to this doctor last week and took my bloodwork from a long time ago.. when I was in my 30's as I have all of my medical records. I have Lupus! In all this time, my Lyme doctor was focusing on my Lyme Disease and the Lupus was not detected and that is why I was not getting better. I am so thankful this rash showed up as it was a heaven sent rash. My medication has been changed and I hopefully will get better now.. my joints were so swollen ... he immediately put me on a low dose of steroid that has brought the inflammation down in my joints and put me on a anti-malarial drug to treat the Lupus. He said the Lupus caused my pericarditis in my heart as well. He thinks that when i got bit by that little tick that it stirred up the Lupus but I was only being treated for the Lyme and therefore I was not getting better. I hope this new treatment will help me to get back to myself a bit and back to blogging and back to the real world! I wanted to let my blogger friends what has been going on with me! Wish me luck! Hello Everyone, I am so sorry I haven't been in blogland for a while.. my husband has recently had his second surgery which was very major! I never expected it to be so rough..he couldn't sleep for the first week due to the trauma of the surgery. I am happy to say he is coming along now and I am able to finally catch up online a bit. I miss everyone and will be catching up on my favorite blogs this week. Also wanted to tell you.. I did get a chance to participate in an Easter Egg Swap which turned out to be a big swap led by Vivian Neroni! Everyone had to make two eggs made out of any material and sent to Vivian..and in turn you will recieve two eggs back.. which will be posted on everyone's blog on April 5th! It will be very exciting to see all the different eggs that everyone made! Hope you can come and visit and join in on the Easter Egg Hunt. Anyway, it's good to be back and hopefully I will be back to crafting and creating soon!

Scrappy Jessi's 2nd Annual Cookie Swap

Hello Cookie Lovers! Here is my receipt for the swap:

Butter Pecan Shortbread

3/4 cup butter

1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon butter flavoring

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted

1/4 cup chopped pecans, untoasted

Garnish: confectioners' sugar

1. In a large mixing bowl and using an electric mixer at medium speed, cream butter, sugar, vanilla extract, butter flavoring, and salt.

2. Using a mixer at medium speed, gradually sift in flour to form a stiff dough. Add all pecans, and blend.

3. Turn dough out onto a sheet of waxed paper, roll into an even rectangular-shaped log. Freeze until needed.

4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

5. Slice dough into 1/4-inch squares. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Garnish with confectioners' sugar by dipping half the cookie in the sugar when cooled, if desired.

Note: The dough can be frozen up to a month. If you cannot find the butter flavoring.. you can omit it.

Hello I know i haven't been a good girl and haven't blogged much this month but wasn't online much and enjoyed a little summer with my family... well my dh hurt himself this month at work and ended up tearing his rotator cuff and surgery is scheduled for next week... in the meantime.. i will be getting back to regular blogging.. i promise! On another note... great news.. Hello Everyone, I have been playing with chenille lately as I can lay down as I fool with it and been having quite a bit of fun with it! I thought I would make some ornaments for the CSST Christmas In July Celebration at Etsy on July 25th! In Memorial.....

Hi Everyone, ...sorry I have not been blogging much of late as I have had a very hard time with the new treatments i started at the Neurologist's office and for now.. i have stopped them as they have taken quite a bit of quality life away from me.

I was very saddened last week to find out that my most favorite and wonderful human being as well as an artist has passed away..she is an inspiration to me as an artist and she will be sadly missed... Tasha Tudor.. an inspiration to all... she was an amazing woman as well as a fantastic children's book illustrator and all of her artwork was beautiful! She will be greatly missed!! I know you are with the angels Tasha... there will never be another one like you!! I loved her so much!! The picture is a card that Tasha illustrated with her creation : Dr. Cupid Corgi!

The Enchanted Swap!

Hello Everyone, Sorry I have been in hiding.. i had the stomach bug all last week and it was horrible! I didn't eat all week and probably lost more weight and i feel like a skeleton now!

Anyway, I did participate in a wonderful swap.. the Enchanted Swap...if you didn't see the movie you must.. it was wonderful and it felt so good to be a princess! My swap partner Jessi really did spoil me... she made me a wonderful magical wand which i did indeed turn all the men in this house to frogs... now i am trying to figure out what to do with a bathtub of frogs-LOL!! It felt good to have some girl time even if it was a swap! You can see by the pictures..she sure did spoil me rotten! It was so much fun!! Thank you Jessi and Sarah for creating the swap in the first place! I so enjoyed it! oops there goes my frog son.... or is that my frog hubby..... Hugs, Linda

My Wool is Dyed!!

Hello All, Well things are not moving as fast as I would like them to around here, there is always so much to do that takes away from creating time....bummer... but i finally got my wool roving dyed and I am so pleased with the way it came out! Perfect! Here is a little instruction on how to dye wool roving with koolaid...yes koolaid!!

I bought the little bags of koolaid the ones without the sugar added.... place the koolaid in a ziploc bag with 1/4 cup of water and make sure it is mixed up inside the bag... then add your white wool roving to it and squeeze it around a bit to make sure the wool is completely covered... it all depends on how dark you want your color to be... you can leave it in for a darker color or if you would like it light.. i wouldn't leave it in too long. Then take out the wool and wash it out very well with water. I hung it up on a plastic hanger... i squeezed most of the water out and then placed it on a hanger and left it to dry. It was so easy! And who would of thought...koolaid!!!

The blue in the picture is perfect as I plan on making the little vintage lamb in the picture and I think the wool dyed perfectly for his color but i didn't leave it in the bag long...only dipped and washed and I got the perfect light blue! Onward to the felting now! Hugs, Folksie Linda

Hello Everyone!!

I have made some homemade soap... we use it because there are no preservatives-- I made some darling little bundt cake soaps-this one is scented with green tea, brown sugar, and frosted fig! The scent is wonderful! I also used pearlized powder to lightly frost the top so it has icing! Way too cute! And for those that like pink, you can order one in pink with pink sugar fragrance! 1. Terrified of the witch in Hansel and Gretal until this day! No kidding!

2. I am a rabbit.... I love raw veggies.. I could eat them everyday for the rest of my life... love salads!!

3. My first love is books! I bet I will surprise many with this one!!

4. I am a cat person... I love dogs but really love cats... ever since I was little.. I would bring them home... I brought a nice big black cat home at the age of five and my mother said as long as she didn't belong to anyone...we would keep her. I remember waking up to my mom calling me...come look in the box on the sunporch where she stayed and wa-la....a box of kittens--oops!

I don't know how my mother put up with me...really!

5. I have this thing for musicians.. my dad played the guitar... my husband plays the guitar and I hope and pray my son learns to play! He wants too so it is hopeful! Music is good for the soul!!

Hello!! I am so far behind as usual but trying to catch up... been creating but slow at times... getting new treatments and they wear me out terrible but hanging in there. On another note, everything I have been creating is reminding me of a Sugar Plum Christmas for sure! I have created some wonderful ornaments in pastel colors with great girls on them that I bought at the Little Pink Studio which is one of my favorite shops on etsy... see the link on my blog! Happy Halloween from Hazel and Otto and me too of course! Hope your halloween is spooky and fun! I love to see the children have so much fun with getting dressed up and getting candy. Hello Everyone, So sorry I am so late for Missy... I am finally done with my owl swap... I haven't been well... that's another story... don't want to bore you with my illness.... but the good thing is I am done and very happy with what I made for her! Hello everyone and Vee... yes you are right..i am a bit behind.. having not been feeling well lately and got behind a bit here and there... I hate it too. Every since I was a child I loved Mother Goose and all the silly rhymes that go with it. It wasn't until I was an adult that i realized how in most of the rhymes something goes wrong, someone gets hurt and wow I really find something wrong with that, especially because they are for children. Is that what happened to me?

Flea Market Finds!

Hi! Hubby took me to a huge flea market today... and I had so much fun! Of course, I didn't find anything that was on my list but I did get this adorable 20's little pink bonnet... not sure which bear is going to be lucky to wear it... and a tiny little vintage bunny from Japan and some teeny weeny little babies. It was great.. I enjoyed getting away from the house.... hubby got to push me in my chair so of course he could whizz me past anything.. but most of the time.. i made him go back! Hello Everyone, Every now and then I thought it would be nice to show some of my collection and things that interest me and it would be nice to see others as well ...do the same. It is interesting to see what draws a person to collect a certain something and the reasons behind it so if you are ready my e-mail, you are now tagged to saying something about what you collect or what you really like about something that you own. I will be checking to see and maybe do a follow-up ..if enough people get involved. One of my loves and interests are tiny bisque dolls with molded hair. They are indeed hard to find but there is a charm all about them that draws me to them... imagine the history if only they could talk! Here are some bargains I picked up in different places along the way. First is a beautiful molded hair doll with molded bows in her hair , the second picture has a type of bisque kewpie doll and a special tiny little doll my hubby bought me years ago when we renewed our vows. She is darling and struck me right away in the miniature show we found in Newport, Rhode Island. What a fun store! Can't wait to go back!

Another Cookie Bear- Sprinkles!

Hello Everyone!! Here is 2nd in my series of cookie bears-- meet Sprinkles! aka Sprinkles on top..aka Sugar cookie.. yes she goes by other names! Sprinkles is a cute silly little bear measuring 1 1/2 inches sitting and comes in her own little cookie jar. Sprinkles will be auctioned off on ebay under my ebay user name... primlinda999. Now for the recipe:

Sugar Cookies

You will need: 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 1 cup margarine or butter, softened, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon almond extract, 1 large egg, 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon cream of tartar, and sprinkles.

Mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract, and egg in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients except sprinkles. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease cookie sheet lightly with shortening.

Divide dough in half. Roll each half 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes (preferably teddy bears) with 2 to 2 1/2- inch cookie cutters. Sprinkle with sprinkles. Place on cookie sheet.

Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until edges are light brown. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on wire rack. If desired.. don't add sprinkles until baked and cover cookies with buttercream frosting and then sprinkles-- Yummy! These are a tradition in my home every Christmas and now Easter too! The kids love them and so do I!

My Peng Peng Bears!

Well I thought it would be nice to talk a little about some of my collection here and there - some here are my Peng Peng bears-- who I find very whimsical and charming... some are mischievous... like after the light is out...it's party time! Missus Mudruffin, Ms. Cherries and Ken-Ken do not like that nonsense and they try to stop them but the others are little gremlins and won't listen! In this picture- you will see from left to right- Missus Mudruffin, Ms. Cherries, Nathaniel, Agnes, Little Cloud and Ken-Ken. Aren't they delightful! Macaroons- Yummy- Yummy!

Do you like Macaroons? They are so delicious if you happen to like coconut... they are soft and chewy and toasty on the outside..... like a light brown color. One of my favorite cookies. Well, my latest little folksie is just that-- a macaroon-- i think my felting is getting smaller and smaller... she ended up being 1 1/2 inches, she is in anime style and is a cute little cookie! Hope you like her!

Recipe for Macaroons: You will need the following: 2 egg whites, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon grated lime peel, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional), 1 bag (7 ozs) sweetened flaked coconut ( about 2 2/3 cups), 1/3 cup whole blanched almonds, 3 squares ( 3 ozs) white chocolate, melted.. ooh yeah, and 2 tablespoons confectioner's sugar.

Making the Macaroons: Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, combine egg whites, sugar, lime peel, and nutmeg; add almond extract, if desired. Using a fork, lightly beat mixture until sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute. Stir in coconut until it is completely coated with the egg mixture.

Drop dough by level tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake cookies on the middle rack until golden, about 25 minutes. Cool slightly; peel cookies from parchment paper and transfer to a wire rack.

Spread almonds in a single layer in a baking pan. Toast nuts in the warmed oven, shaking the pan occasionally, until they are light brown and fragrant, 10-15 minutes.

Let nuts cool completely. Using a food processor or chopper, process until finely chopped about 10 seconds.

In the top of a double boiler set over simmering water, melt white chocolate. Transfer the melted chocolate into a small bowl. Place chopped nuts in another small bowl. Dip the top of each cookie into the white chocolate , then in nuts. Return cookies to the parchment paper.

Let cookies stand until chocolate is set, about 15 minutes. Serve or store in a tightly sealed container. Enjoy! Felted Hugs, Folksie girl

Well Life is sure good! To have a nice big basket full of wool to lay in ..is a soft and comfy bed-- this is where Pinky has made her bed... so I had to cover my wool with a towel. I went to the humane society last year in May and found this adorable little tabby cat that was 8 months old and had already had a litter of kittens. She was so tiny... i thought oh my goodness.. she is so young.. and when i went out the door.. i had two boxes.. one with Pinky in it of course and one with one of her little female kittens who hubby named Layla in it. Then we went straight to the vet... no more kittens for either one! But Pinky is sure enjoying where she ended up! If there is such a thing as reincarnation... Flower Garden!

Well who doesn't like flowers so I thought i would share with you some flowers from my garden!

I have a great hubby with a very big green thumb and he plants all kinds of flowers for me.. mostly my favorites or I get to pick.. this year we added two more butterfly bushes, some salvia, some more lavender, snapdragons, zinnias and much more. When i was in grade school i remember walking by a ladies house everyday and her yard has the most delightful snapdragons.. i would always stop to look at them. Fond memories! Hope you enjoy seeing some flowers from my gardens and the peonies are getting ready to open so I will have to show you those as soon as they do... and then I will be snipping and drying them to make some lovely wreaths for my victorian website. Two Surprises!

Hello Here is a picture of my dear little Liza when she was a baby... this is a true anime dog don't you think? She has such a big body and tiny short legs... the cutest thing! Wishing you Bluebirds!

Hello! It all started when my oldest daughter was six years old-- i bought her a little book called "Wishing you Bluebirds." The when we moved into the house we are in now.. we had an old birdhouse out back and to our surprise-- it belonged to a bluebird family! What a nice surprise to see them and watch them everyday. I would feed them with meal worms from the pet store and the father was very gracious as he had young ones inside the house that were very hungry! They ended up having three females which have stayed here but have not nested yet... we need some male bluebirds! Anyway, this year we bought a new house and hopefully we will have a new family... crossing my fingers. I just love them! When I started needle felting ...of course, you always incorporate something you love into your work so my signature work is definitely bluebirds! Bluebirds- Felted Folksie Style. The picture of the real bluebird is the father keeping watch and perched very close to the house inspecting. The other picture is of my lastest Bella Bluebird Felted Folksie.. she is a wee tiny little bluebird-- standing in her little tiny wooden painted pot decorated with antique rick-rack and an antique cabbage rose. Well, I have been tagged by Aleta Breese of The Silly Bear so I have to name seven of my most favorite foods which I don't think I will have a problem because I just love food! Okay, here goes:

1. Gorgonzola cheese (imported) on Salad or on grilled bread

2. Steak-- anykind, ribeye, filet mignon, strip steak, as long as it is nicely grilled to medium well.. I am happy and a bottle of A1 of course!

3. Caramel Apple dipped in nuts or a chocolate covered caramel apple dipped in nuts...yummy!

4. A Loaded Baked Potato

5. I don't know if this counts but I love my tea... have never had a cup of coffee... i love tea, anykind, black, english breakfast, earl gray, chamomile, and apple cinnamon mostly!

6. True Mexican Food... I can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day and I will not get sick of it.. i love it too much!

7. Gingerbread...whether it be cake or cookies--is fine with me!

Keeping the Wool Warm!

Well, I don't have to worry about my wool being kept warm as you can see from the picture! Do you think I have enough of it? Well, Pinky sure likes it... it is soft, cuddley and warm! Hello Today I received a very special surprise in the mail! It was a present made by Aleta Breese of My Silly Bear for guessing a question game on her blog which was quite fun! I was very surprised to get such a lovely handmade gift from such a terrific friend! Hello well today is a day for me to relax and enjoy the lilacs! Oh how i wished they lasted so much longer.... they smell so pretty! I have three trees of them in my yard. Hello Well it is Mother's Day today and so there will be no work, no dishes, only relaxation ( I hope) ... my daughter and I are going out to lunch and I am looking forward to it. It will be alot of fun... we like to go to Cracker Barrel ... not only great food but a great gift shop to browse too. Hope everyone has a great Mother's day today if you are a Mother of course! Felting away for The Land of Make Believe

Well, I have finally finished my latest update- The Land of Make Believe! I had so much fun creating all the little miniatures that will be in my Folksies Land of Make Believe. It is my most favorite stories... this one in general is Mother Goose Characters. I also love the Brothers Grimm.... hmmm... maybe that will be my next one or in the future sometime. It was alot of work... my hands and fingers are sore and achy! But I just love to needle felt... it is so much fun to create something sculpturing it with your own ideas and your own hands. This update will be on my website on Mother's Day! Yes special indeed! Well, I think I will take a short break and do something else for a couple of days.. rest for one!
